INTUITIVE BIRTHCARE
I’ve had to rewrite this section a few times recently to accommodate learning, growth, and experiences that lead me to new perspectives. As a writer, I always go back to read what I write and see if it’s coming directly from within or if it’s a regurgitation of information I’ve learned or received from others. I want whatever I write or share to come from that intuitive place within me.
Intuition is that internal navigation system that we all have within us. It speaks to the part of us that knows something without knowing how we know it. It doesn’t come from outside sources, it can’t be proved, and often times it’s as if it appears out of no where. Sometimes, we ignore it. Other times we honor it. We always have a choice and every choice we make leads us down a different path. When it came to birthing at home I had to trust my intuition. I had no idea how I would find a midwife.....
I was a featured guest on the ATWOL podcast (A Thousand Words or Less) by Lee Swann, discussing preconception and birth in the black community.
Take a listen and enjoy!
I was pregnant with our second child, our first son. When I was pregnant with him I started watching birth stories on TLC. They were all women who were birthing at home. I was intrigued by that these women and that they were able to birth at home. By the time I was finish watching and listening to the mother’s share their birth experiences, I knew it was something I wanted to experience one day. However, I was already receiving care with an OB/GYN and I wasn’t quite ready for a homebirth. So, I decided that I wanted to give birth to him in the hospital without any medication. He was born at the hospital via a vaginal unmedicated birth. I was amazed at my strength and this experience gave me the necessary confidence to pursue a homebirth for our next birth.
I spent time researching midwives in Maryland that did homebirths. I met and interviewed a few, but I wanted my first experience to be with an African-American midwife. So, I searched and searched. Finally, someone gave me the number to a midwife. I spoke with her on the phone, we met in person, and we began to plan our first homebirth.
I went on to have three more homebirths. My first homebirth experience is what started my curiosity in becoming a midwife. I had a great midwife, a wonderful friend who was my Doula encapsulated my placenta, and I really enjoyed birthing at home. It was a very intimate and powerful experience for me. This experience led to me to applying to a midwifery school a few years after the birth of of our son. (That was about 9 years ago) However, being a mom and caring for our children took precedence at that moment. So, although I was accepted into midwifery school, it had to wait.
However, it’s as if I was being called into birth work.
I found myself continuously researching schools and often being asked about my homebirth experiences by friends, family, and others I had conversations with. People would call be to ask for advice or my opinion regarding pregnancy and birth. Needless to say, here I am 14 years later providing sound intuitive care to pregnant women.
What a journey it has been!

After all these years, I’ve finally decided to answer the call! I am truly honored to have the opportunity to assist you in creating a birth YOU choose. To advocate, encourage, hold space, support, and provide you with quality intuitive care throughout your pregnancy and birth is what I’m here for.
I am an intuitive autonomous birth attendant, coach, and educator offering quality birthcare services to women in the DMV and surrounding areas. I also provide Placenta Encapsulation, Sound Healing Therapy, and Nutrition Consultation services for expectant mothers.
Thanks for stopping by!
I offer quality, holistic, intuitive, and autonomous non-medical birthcare services to mothers. What this means is that my approach to birth is traditional and sovereign in nature. After attending midwifery school, providing services as a birth companion (Doula) & assistant, I decided the traditional route was much more in tune with who I am, what I do, and how I live my life.
My services are unique and not for everyone. My perspective when it comes to birth is that it is a sacred moment in a woman's life and she (and her partner) should have full-autonomy over the experience. In today's world, birth has become a medicalized experience and it is clear to see from research, data, and mother's speaking about their births, that for many of them it is not safe. (This is especially true for African-American women and women who have been categorized as "lower class") I am here to honor, support, and create a safe space for you throughout your pregnancy, during your labor, and throughout the post-partum period. You will birth your your baby. I will provide guidance, support, a safe space, and love. If this sounds like something you would be interested in please feel free to book a consultation below.

The positive effects of sound and music therapy before, during, and after labor have been affirmed by a number of studies conducted throughout the years. In one study, 50% of women who listened to music during childbirth didn’t need any anesthesia or pain medication.
Mothers who experienced music therapy throughout their birth (especially during the latter parts of their pregnancy) showed reduced rates of anxiety and were completely satisfied with their childbirth experience and ability of the music to soothe the infant during the prenatal time.
Sound and music therapy promote relaxation, are used for pain management, and to relieve anxiety throughout pregnancy, birth, and labor. I offer sound womb tuning sessions for mothers or customized sound womb tuning guided meditations that can be played throughout pregnancy and labor.
I offer customized sacred womb tuning sessions for expectant mothers and those wanting to conceive. Sessions are customized to suit each client’s needs.

The lifeline, the tree of life, the baby’s life support and source of nutrition. The placenta play’s a vital role in the nourishment and development of baby. It is the only organ the body creates only to dispose of it after the baby is born. The placenta transfers nutrients and oxygen to the baby and of waste products from the baby to the mother. This maternal and fetal exchange takes place throughout pregnancy.
Benefits of Placenta Encapsulation
